Community Operations Consulting & Moderation Systems

Community Operations Consulting & Moderation Systems

Project Overview

Status · Completed
Platform · Discord
Role · Community Operations Consultant
Scope · Community Operations, Moderation Systems, Onboarding & Server Structure

Project Summary

8OS is a Halo Infinite community focused on competitive play and community events. I was brought in to review the server's existing operational structure and identify opportunities to improve moderation, onboarding, and staff workflows. My work focused on developing clearer systems and processes that could make day-to-day management more consistent and scalable.

Challenge

As the community evolved, moderation, onboarding, and internal operations had become increasingly inconsistent. Staff relied on undocumented or loosely defined workflows, making moderation decisions harder to standardize and creating friction for both staff and new members.

I was brought in to assess these operational issues and develop practical recommendations for improving consistency, documentation, onboarding, and staff workflows.

Approach

Reviewed the server’s channel and category architecture.

Configured moderation automation to reduce repetitive tasks.

Redesigned the onboarding experience for new members.

Implemented automated Twitch stream notifications.

Evaluated the role hierarchy and permission system.

Developed server rules and moderation guidelines.

Developed internal moderation workflows and staff documentation.

Designed supporting visual branding assets for the community.

Implemented ModMail for private member support.

Recommended improvements to the server's long-term structure.

Designed a structured ban appeal process.

Selected Work

Outcome

• Established documented moderation procedures.
• Standardized staff workflows and decision-making.
• Reduced manual administrative work through automation.
• Improved onboarding consistency for new members.
• Built a scalable operational foundation for future growth.

Reflection

This project reinforced that healthy communities rely on systems rather than individuals. By documenting workflows, standardizing moderation, and improving onboarding, the server became easier to manage while providing members with a more consistent experience.
